Crocheting myself into a corner

I sold one of my shawls, Deep Calls Unto Deep and the person who bought it ordered 2 more. One the same color and another I'll be making in Sierra.
I'm also making a baby sweater for another friend who's granddaughter was born a couple of weeks ago. I am hoping that I'll have all three done by this weekend.

Creator of the Universe Shawl

I kept hearing a song by Morningstar called "Creator of the Universe" while crocheting this incredible soft shawl.

Lyrics:

In Your presence, Oh Lord,
We're consumed with Your heart
And delight in Your goodness, Oh God
Just as the bride and the bridegroom romance
We want to cause you to joy and move you to dance

Creator of the universe
Won't You dance, Oh dance with us?

Holy Spirit in graceful descent
Come and fall as our praises ascend
As a dove, come and rest in Your grace
Take us to the holiest place

Creator of the universe
Won't You dance, Oh dance with us?

I made this with Lion Brand Homespun - Deco and a K hook using this pattern.

This shawl is so beautiful, the color is simply comforting. I pray that whoever receives this feels comforted by the Creator. It measures 17" x 121". It's long and is great to wrap around.

Breathe Shawl

While crocheting this shawl I kept hearing a song by Leonard Jones called "Holding Your Breath" found on Morningstar's "Coming out of Egypt" album.

The words are:
Out of darkness You brought forth light
Out of nothing You commanded the night

Holding Your breath
Out of Your words You made the worlds
Out of play You took a son for Yourself
Holding Your breath

Kneeling down Breathing out
Face - to - face
Your embrace

Out of the dust you created my heart
From the earth You brought form unto my soul
Out of your spirit you breathed in new life
Breathe into us again!

Breathe into us, Lord!
We're turning blue.

Out of touch I have run too fast
Coming back I return to you at last
Holding Your breath.

So kneeling down
I breathe in
Face - to - face
Your embrace

Out of the dust you created my heart
From the earth you brought form unto my soul
Out of your spirit you breathed in your life
Breathe into us again!

Na - na -neo
Na - na - neo pneuma
Na - na - neo

I added the following scripture to the card on the shawl as I felt this is what the Lord wanted to communicate to whoever this shawl is for:
Genesis 2:7 - the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Psalm 33:6 - By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
Psalm 150:6 - Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
John 20:22 - And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit."

I made this shawl out of Lion Brand Homespun in Mediterranean. Lion Brand describes the yarn color, "'Painterly' color The colors of a Grecian hillside -- dusty olive and warm tans." I used an N hook and adapted this pattern. It measures about 22" x 76".

NOTHING is safe! I will embellish EVERYTHING with crochet!

Mua ha ha ha. I just had to crochet this "sweater" for Scott's guitar stand. Actually, it's our son Levi's guitar stand that Scott is going to be using soon.

Ok, so I didn't do this of my own accord. Scott came up to me and asked if I would crochet a cover for the stand. It was getting pretty worn but he didn't see a need to purchase a new one. I was honored he asked and got to work right away. (I was reminded that I got to work on it right away because I suffer from obsessive compulsiveness LOL.) I used Caron Simply Soft Autumn Red and a size H hook. I had to crochet around the stand, which was interesting, but it worked. For the bottom part, I crocheted two tubes and then crocheted them together when they were on the stand.

Suede Purse

A friend gave me an idea to crochet the purse with a leather bottom and a little bigger. So I went to the Rag Shop today with my 30% off my entire purchase coupon and purchased 3 skeins of Lion Brand Suede in Denim and 1 skein of Bernat Envy in Beautiful Blue. I'm excited to see how this one will turn out. I will use an exacto knife to cut holes in the suede. I tried looking for a hole puncher, but couldn't find anything. So, we'll see how it comes out. :)

Suede Feather purse/tote

I made this deliciously velvety soft purse out of Lion Brand Suede in Mocha and Black and Bernat Boa in Raven and an I hook. I used a pattern from Lion Brand - Evening Tote.

This tote measures 8 1/2" long x 6" deep x 7" wide. There are no pockets, but this is a great tote to throw your keys, wallet and iPod in when you don't want to use a large purse. I really like this totel

Hats!

I had made 2 hats from Yarn Cat's website. I used worsted weight yarn and whatever hook was called for in the pattern. I used Simply Soft and Red Heart for Barstow.

For Durango, I used Caron Jewel Box and Simply Soft.

American Flag Bracelets

I crocheted these bracelets using Aunt Lydia's Double Strand Crochet Thread. Aunt Lydia's Double Strand Crochet Thread combines two contrasting colors of crochet threads (each size 10) into one for fantastic special effects. I used Chambray/Navy, White/White, and Burgundy/Victory Red. I sewed an American Flag button on each of these bracelets to top off the patriotic look. The bracelets close with a clear snap that was sewed onto each end.

These bracelets will fit a 6" - 7" wrist.

Some Doilies

Crochet doilies are wonderful household accessories. They accent antique pieces, give shelving a soft appeal, the list is endless. Doilies are also great to give as hostess gifts.

Each of these doilies was made with size 10 thread.

The square, purple doily is an 8" square and is edged with a bit of ruffles. This would look great on a girl's night stand or even tacked onto a pillow.

The white star shell doily is 21" across and would look great on top of a circular table, topped by a beautiful vase of fresh flowers.

This white pinwheel doily is 13 1/2" across and would look great on top of that sofa table topped by a lamp or left alone. The pinwheel design is simply beautiful and can stand alone.

This ecru pineapple fan doily is 15 1/2" across. It would look wonderful under a vase, lamp or can also stand alone.

Wash Cloths/Prayer Cloths

The cloths are great to be used as wash cloths, dusting cloths or even as prayer cloths. I have made up some of these in the past, prayed over them for certain individuals for healing and presented the cloth to them. There's no magic in them, but it's simply a tangible prayer, a reminder to a friend that someone is praying for them. Our prayers do have power. :)

These cloths were made up using Sugar N Cream Cotton and a cabled afghan hook. For the shell cloth, I used a pattern from a tunisian baby blanket book I have. The other cloth I just used a combination of stitches found at Annie's Attic.

This cloth is 10" x 9 1/2"

This cloth is 9" x 11"

Iced Tea/Glass Cozies

I have made 6 more Iced Tea Cozies that are also available for sale. They are $3.00 each.

This one has a charm that reads "believe"

Child's Autumn Pullover

Design by Laura Gebhardt. Found in October 2006 issue of Crochet World, page 36.

Besides the baby layettes I have done, this is the first sweaterI have attempted to make. It was supposed to be for my 4 year old son, but was too small. Evidently my tension is tighter than Laura's. That's probably why there's a gauge in the pattern, huh? Maybe next time I'll look into checking my gauge. Oh, well. It worked out ok for Logan, my 2 year old and I was able to make some notes to myself about the pattern so that when I make one for Kenny next, it will fit him much better. :)

I used some worsted weight yarn had stashed away - white, light blue, medium blue and dark blue. The two darker colors are Caron Simply Soft. I also used an I hook.

***Note to self for future pullovers*** Leave about a 12" to 15" tail for stripe for assembly. It will make for a more "seamless" look and be faster than weaving those ends in each time a stripe is finished. :faint:

I've also measured my 4 year old this time and will make the sweater custom for him.

Now for the photos...

Another Blanket

I am so enjoying making blankets and shawls and especially using the Homespun. Yum!
This new blanket is about 62" x 42". I used Homespun Sierra, an N hook and this pattern.
Don't let the lacy look of the blanket fool you. This yarn is thick and will keep you warm. As I was crocheting it, I had to keep it off my lap because it was so warm. And my home is never above 76.

Lately I have been getting scripture stuck in my head as I crochet certain pieces. I remember a song sung by one of our worship leaders and it went, "there'll be streams in the desert places", I think the song was called A New Thing. This song kept going through my head while I crocheted this. So I am attaching this scripture to the blanket:

Isaiah 43:18-21
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I proved water in the desert and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chose, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.

More shawls!

Garment of Praise - Ezekiel 1, Psalm 30:11 - You have turned my mourning into dancing, Isaiah 61:3 - A crown of beauty instead of ashes ~ oil of gladness instead of mourning ~ garment of praise instead of despair, I Peter 5:7 - Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you, Psalm 46:10 - Be still and know that I am God.

I crocheted this shawl using a N cable crochet hook and using the Tunisian Lace Stitch. I used Lion Brand Homespun Tudor. This shawl measures 19" x 76" including fringe.

Deep Calls Unto Deep - Psalm 42:7,8 - Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. By day the Lord directs His love, at night His song is with me ` a prayer to the God of my life, Psalm 23: 1-3 - The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his names' sake, Psalm 1:3 - He is like a tree planted by streams of water, with yields it's fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

I crocheted this the same way as "Garment of Praise" using Regency Homespun. This shawl measures 19" x 75" including fringe.

Both of these shawls are currently for sale (as of 10/14/06) for $46.88 each. If you are interested, please visit my web page, Busy Bee's Crochet.

Shawls

I made up a shawl for a friend who is undergoing surgery this week. I got the pattern from Lion Brand and I used Homespun Sierra and an N hook.

It's so beautiful. It measures about 24" x 60".

I'm also making up a few more - not quite the same pattern, but similar. I'm using an N cable afghan hook and the Tunisian Lace Stitch.

Cozies

...and so I have a place for quick reference of what to make:

16 of whatever colors and buttons for Dawn

4 open lacy orange color with garden button
4 solid green and beige bird or flower button
4 open lacy blue and or pink teapot button for my ebay customer

6 of whatever colors and buttons (get some watering cans) for Lanae

Blanket and Iced Tea Cozies

I am 11 balls into a 20 ball of yarn blanket using Department 71 Sophie in Beach Party. I'm working it in DCs, dc in between dcs since I cannot see the stitches. :) It's about 36" wide and will probably be 70" long. I love it!

My ebay auction for a lot of 12 Iced Tea Cozies sold so I need to work those up and I received another order for 6 and I have to finish the order for 40. I'll be a busy bee tomorrow working up cozies in between homeschool. ;) Fun, fun, fun. I've got to figure out how I'm going to get to JoAnne's tomorrow for buttons. I have someplace to be from 7-9 and Scott doesn't get home until about 6 or so. Hmmmm. We shall see.

Cozies

Well, I took off the other cozies from auction. I found they were a bit loose on the glasses and had to re-make them. I did get an order for 40 cozies from a friend who hosts dinners about once a month at their home. I have 24 done and will be working on putting buttons on those this morning. I am expecting a shipment of yarn to come in to make a blanket for a friend who is going through chemo. *hugs* The shipment was out for delivery at 5:00 this morning so I'm hoping I'm on the morning schedule. :) I'm also working up a blanket to use up some of my stash.

Glass Cozies

I made up some glass cozies with some yarn I had lying around. I'm planning on making more. I did put these up for auction on ebay, along with an auction for a lot of 12 cozies custom made. We'll see.

These are my own pattern using worsted weight and a G hook.
